"Early childhood caries (ECC) is a severe form of dental caries which affects the primary teeth of infants and very young children. In BC it is estimated that the condition affects over 8,100 children causing pain and infection and adversely affecting their health, behaviour and mental/physical development ... To address this problem, the Association struck the Children's Dentistry Task Force in 1999 to research the problem and make recommendations."
