Summary: This video is the story of three courageous people learning to live with mental illness. April and Judy have been diagnosed with bi-polar disease and Rui with schizophrenia. Through their words, we learn that mental illness is treatable and that with the correct diagnosis, medications, treatment and acceptance, those with a mental illness can lead healthy, rewarding lives. It takes courage: as well as their illness, they face other issues such as housing shortages, barriers to employment, poverty and stigma. But the main message of the video is one of hope. As April says in the video, when the monster finally had a name, there were methods to eradicate it. "I was able to learn what those methods were and begin my process of recovery."
